Sounds like the bright light a the place your parcel was sent from mistakenly put your tracking sticker on someone else's parcel and vice versa. This can happen.

Not sure why you are angry at FedEx, tho as the sender of the parcel would be the one responsible, not FedEx.

Suggest you contact the company you bought the item from and tell them you never received the goods and for them to correct it. Because you were wise and paid with a credit and not a debit card, etc., you can always dispute the charge with your card issuer if no satisfaction is received.

Details
Sent item back from USA. It was an empty gift box of no value. It was delivered but now I have threatening letters from them. They want me to pay £45-55 import duty fees. There would have been no fees on an empty box. Worse still I find out they charged my 14 year old daughter £52 to ship it from the fed ex office in our hotel . Serious ripping off here.

Unbelievably poor | FedEx UK review

Details
2 days for a package to get to the UK from the USA, brilliant. Unfortunately the next email said more information was required from the importer (me). 'More information' is not very specific and despite several messages via their woeful website which got zero responses I am still waiting to find out what that information might be. The company who shipped with FedEx, whom I shall not name, have been excellent in trying to help me; FedEx however appear to be on holiday or bust because no one is answering my questions. Hopefully bust as then I will never have to wait for another parcel which they are supposed to be delivering.
